Working with SME
For this project we worked directly with company board member Steven Whittaker, and co-founder of the organization Dr. James Mayfield. Steven has a long track record in project management and received his MBA from Westminster College. Dr. Mayfield is astounding, having received 2 PhDs from the University of Texas, one in Middle-Eastern and Government studies, and another in Political Science.
Both Steve and James have a passion for learning and helping eliminate poverty. Working with them was a renowned experience. To create the course according to their vision, we met with them weekly/ biweekly to present our plan for the course. Meeting with the SMEs also allowed us to ask questions about the course and better understand their vision.

Final Thoughts
For this course project with Choice Humanitarian, we partnered with Instructure, the creators of Canvas, and consequently developed the course directly within the Canvas platform. This collaboration ensured seamless integration and optimal functionality for the course.
Given that designing in Canvas was a new experience for many of my peers, I took the lead in navigating this aspect of the project. Drawing from the content provided in Dr. Mayfield's book "Extreme Poverty Eliminated", I adeptly incorporated relevant learning objectives and course material into Canvas.
The primary objective of this course was to familiarize new employees at Choice Humanitarian with the company's mission and empower them to take actionable steps to create a ripple effect for change. By providing a comprehensive understanding of the organization's goals and values, the course aimed to inspire and equip employees to contribute meaningfully to Choice Humanitarian's mission of positive impact and sustainable change.
